I really don't understand what the problem is now, Chris has already posted that they're the same as last year apart from the lighting amendment so what's Selwyn doing? Rewriting them to allow 5.0 V8s? It'd be rather farcical if they're been changed at this stage.

No I don't either does seem strange and even stranger when i spoke to chris ratter at round 6 last year he had the new rules for production and super production with production class based on mike wilson and louisa's car ie fully standard cars in factory spec less carpet and rear seats and super production with interior removed proper rally type suspension mounted in standard position and could use engines from the rover range ie rover 1.8 turbo and gearbox was free this is what was discussed with the freelander crews at a meeting in September. and when i spoke to him at the auto sport show he was going to get robbo to read them through and go from there !!!!
They were even posted on the freelander challenge website !!!!!!!!!!!! I spoke to Robbo at the show about everything to find out he didn't even know about the meeting with Chris and Selwyn or anything that was discussed and had not seen any of the proposed new regs !!!!!!
It would be nice to see them even if the only amendment is that for the rear lights !!!!!!

Maybe he's waiting for the Tippex to dry before getting his stencil set out to change the '6' to a '7'. :lol:

I've heard that both NORC and AWD club would welcome a gaggle of Freelanders if no one else wants us. NORC would even put us in the same class with or without trim and plastic windows. Damn long way up north everytime though.

On a point of interest, it might be rather difficult to sell this if the regs as submitted by Chris (2016 including amendments made at Bovington 1) are finalised:

Could be why a super production class is being suggested as neither engine nor gearbox meet the current regs.

In my opinion the big selling point with the Freelander Challenge was that all the cars were the same with only the skill of the driver and his crew making the differance.

Now with the regs proposed by Chris all the above has gone and we are back to the winners being those that can chuck the most money at the car

Agree. Removing the trim doesn't make any difference to performance, just means a bit less than can burn, and plastic side windows don't break - all grounds for increased safety. Uprating the dampers is also sensible as everyone was having problems with the standard ones breaking, especially on the Cat 2 stuff which is just too much for standard Freelander dampers, however slow you drive - and even we Freelanders don't want to be going slow! It is modifying the engine and gearbox that defeats the object of affordable motorsport. I was happy with the regs as amended after Bovington 1 - as were MOST other drivers - and hopefully that is what has been submitted to the MSA with the lighting amendment put forward by Vic.
